Mischief Monday With Hamish & Some Epic Stinky Goodness!

It has been way too hot over and everyone is getting all hot and bothered so we try and stay in the shade when out in our park. However sometimes a dog has got to do what a dog has got to do. Me I rolled in a dead mouse and peeps did the usual screaming hysterically whilst I carried on as she is not called she who must be obeyed ignored for nothing. Luckily I narrowly avoided a bath as she fished out the Aloe Vera dog wipes and said that will do. I saw her beady eyes looking at the Oust and so I made a dash for under the dinning table. Not so lucky was my mate Hamish the other day. She spotted the dead crow in time and yanked me by the collar and put me on the human walking rope. Hamish however free to do what he liked raised his leg and did a cock-a-leaky on it and proceeded to get down and enjoy a roll in the epic stinky goodness. Peeps shouted at him and his owner hearing the commotion asked what's up? As peeps proceeded to snitch on my hero Hamish, his peeps turned redder than a tomato and promptly grabbed him and on the leash he went. No walk for Hamish as he was unceremoniously dragged homeward bound in disgrace. Needles to say the bath was followed up with a cleaning of the bathroom, a bath and a change of clothes for his peeps. That's a good way to kill off a couple of hours we say. Three cheers to you Hamish. That was one epic roll in stinky goodness. Have you rolled in anything good recently? Sadly after Hamish was taken away from the crime scene my peeps bagged up the crow and threw it in the bin. Spoil sport.

Have a marvellous Monday all and don't forget to include some mischief today.

  1. Oh Molly...you and LadyBug would get along GREAT...she is always rolling in something...something that smells dreadful. I just cannot break her of that habit! So sorry you have been having trouble commenting...not sure why?? Happy Monday!

  2. The closest we get to a good stinky roll is the occasional dead fish at the lake but typical over bearing mother - she always drags us away from the sweet smell

  3. Hip Hip Hurray Hamish! While we don't find dead animals to roll in we have lots of different kinds of poop (bird poop, deer poop etc etc) and Hailey almost always finds something the Lady can't see to roll in. People don't appreciate this special kind of perfume.

  4. What? They threw it in the bin? A whole stinky crow? That's scandalous... Can you remember which bin? Think that crow is worth a ride through the tunnel. Have a super monday and my condolence to Hamish, hope he will survive the water torture.

  6. The humans never do seem to appreciate our efforts to liven up their boring little lives and keep them away from the sofa. Hamish does indeed sound heroic, in fact a martyr in the good cause. Your pal, Toby

  7. Peeps just don't know how to have fun. I say they should get down and roll in some fresh horse poop or on a dead fish, and their lives would change FURever. {sigh}

  8. I am back to my usual LAUGH 'TIL YA CHOCK routine in the morning as I eat my breakfast and read MIZ MOLLY! Oh my goodness...Miz Molly, your peep has a hilarious writing style and documents your antics to a "T"...so good to have you back AND, I have NOT rolled in any thing stinky lately. I leave that up to all the creatures in my garden!

  11. OH my. what a story... so glad Hamish got in the crow and not you.. what is up with you canines that you must roll in anything stinky? Our dog Max, may he RIP, dug up fish that his igornat daddy buried in the back yard around the bushes to make them grow. if you have never smelled fish that was buried for a few days, count your self blessed. it took not one but 3 baths and 2 times in the pool to get it off him. think Slime and Stink

  16. there is ALWAYS something roll-worthy here at the ranch. and there's always the stinky pond to get in if all else fails.

  17. I guess we doggies will never understand why the humans don't like stinky things! It's a doggie tradition to hide one's own scent by rolling in something that smells worse. Maybe next time you'll get in a good roll before your humans catch you!

  20. Cody went to the Rainbow Bridge on Friday after a very short (2 weeks) of a cancerous tumor on her leg which deteriorated VERY quickly -- It was best for her that we said our goodbyes and sent her over the bridge to meet with some of the other bloggers who had gone there (although we don't have a blog, we follow a lot of blogs).

Anyway, this blog reminded me of a couple of years ago when we would go to the big dog park (about a mile away) and all of a sudden I could smell poop in the car (this was when we still had a car!!). Anyway, I discovered she had poop all over her neck and collar. This happened several times (she even got it on a friend who went to pet her!!), then just as suddenly as she started doing it, she stopped!!!

BTW Molly, I really enjoy your blog and will keep reading.

  29. Oh No I learned my lesson with stinky rolling. Yep I rolled in something once. I thought I smelled terrific. When I got home I did not get to go inside. No siree, Bob! I got tied to the fence and Lee came out with rubber gloves and proceeded to rub the stinky from my side furs all over my face and up my nose. Stinky just smells awful when it is up your nose. Lee let it dry on me for hours. Now stinky smells the same to me as it does Lee. Stinky smells like stink and I leave it be.

  37. Oh, human peeps can really ruin all the fun, eh? Reminds me of when our beagle rolled in secwild animal's poo, right before I needed to head to school and give a presentation! Not good!

  38. Mom is always ruining my fun. I got to roll in duck poop not long ago until she realized what I was rolling in. It was fun while it lasted!

  41. I found a dead mutton bird at the beach once. I picked it up and ran and when I was far enough away from Mum I played with it, tossing it in the air and catching it and then when Mum got close I took off with it again and when I was far enough away I rolled in it. Crikey I smelled GREAT!! Fair dinkum, it was worth the bath.

    1. Forgot to add ... we have to drive to the beach. You should have smelled the car on the way home. Pure heaven!! It took a whole can of Oust to eradicate it according to Mum!!

  42. Along our walk route, there is a dead something or other, been there about six months now, but we don't know what it is or was. We keep trying to get close enough for a sniff and maybe a roll around, but those darn leashes manage to keep it at bay all the time. One of these days . .

  50. Hunter hasn't found anything to roll in-probably because he is attached to one of those "rope" things and I don't let him get too close. However, my last Heart Dog Sadie would roll in poop when she was off lead at a park. I never saw a dog so happy to run free-but she always came when I called her. Never could get to upset with her-just kept wipes in my car to use on her. Glad you didn't have to have a bath. Hope you have a fantastic Tuesday!!!

  59. Ah, Molly, the wonders of stinkiness - i honestly do not understand the fuss the two legged ones make about it - for some reason, I'm not much of a roller in stickiness (She is very grateful for that) but a few months ago, just before I left Japan, I found a dead fish (well, my buddy Heinrich found it, I just returned to the scene of the stickiness) and disappeared for 20 minutes - there were many people looking for me and She was quite upset, thinking that I had been washed away in the river - but, nope, I was just rolling around in dead fish - unfortunately, it was very warm and it was a good 15 minute walk back to the house from the river - She said, (over and over and over - very boring after a while) that I smelt so bad She thought She might be sick. I had THREE, yes, that's right THREE baths before She said the smell was gone (personally, I couldn't smell a thing!). What IS IT with the two legged ones that they are so worried about stickiness - I think you and Hamish should be rewarded for the rolls, not scolded!!!

  63. Poor Hamish! Sentenced to a bath for a simple dead bird roll! We don't get a chance to roll in stinky stuff, but Pierre accidentally got poo on him one day. Guess what happened?? We BOTH got a bath! Is that unfair or what??

  64. Miss Molly at least you didn't have to have that nasty bath! Hamish had the fun and the not so fun!
